It frequently grows overhanging protected beaches, forming moderately dense thickets.
HICKORY WATTLE is a favourite host for some mistletoe species. Seeds germinate readily after being subjected to fire or soaking in boiling water. Young plants have feathery, bi-pinnate leaves as seedlings and make rapid growth.
The phyllodes appear at an early stage. (Phyllodes are the broad leaf-like structures which are in fact flattened stalks and perform the function of leaves.)
