Deep-green, sickle shaped phyllodes densely cover this tall, erect shrub.

Reveling in the tropical humidity it flourishes throughout tropical Queensland and is abundant along the beaches. Thriving in the sandy conditions it is valuable in its prevention of erosion. The weeping branches often rest upon the sand thus inhibiting erosion by wind whilst the roots firmly bind the soil.

Masses of pale yellow flowers cover these shrubs during winter. The seed pods are distinctively elongated, of a papery texture, and contain relatively large, flat oval black seeds.
