Its body is mostly dark it has a lighter with distinctive dark facial stripes. When flying, green speculum feathers, and light under wing is visible.
Paciic black ducks are sociable and are often seen in groups of swimming on freshwater rivers and lakes. It feeds by ducking its head underwater (and lifting its tail), catching small crustaceans and eating the seeds of aquatic plants.
