Also known as the Crested hawk, this is a small long-tailed hawk with a distinctive crest on its head.

It can be seen hunting for small insects, frogs and lizards from the tree tops. It will also eat fruit.
It builds a flat nest high in the trees in woodland areas, living mainly in tropical or sub-tropical areas of eastern Australia (as far south as Sydney), New Guinea and Solomon Islands.
