Guinea Bush - Hibbertia banksii - Photo by Bill Hinton
The primrose flowers of this open shrub make a delightful splash of colour and the deciduous petals form a yellow carpet beneath the plant.
It grows as an understory in open forest about Laura and other areas of central Cape York Peninsula. The buds and seed pods of brown velvet texture and the deep green leaves, with cream felt-like revers make the GUINEA BUSH a desirable garden specimen.
Flowering commences with the onset of the tropical summer rains.
