Probably the best known species of the genus, the TWINING GUINEA FLOWER is a vigorous trailing plant.

It is widespread throughout eastern tropical Queensland. The flower is typical of the Hibbertia genus, though probably the largest, being up to 7cm in diameter.
Flowering at intervals throughout the year the bright yellow spreading petals usually fall by midday. They are followed by attractive pale green seed pods. At maturity the carpels open and reveal the gaudy seeds which germinate readily.
