Growing up to 30cm, these starfish are found around often found in the shallow reefs and sea grass beds off Port Douglas and Cape Tribulation.

They are usually a vivid, and striking blue colour and are detretivores (they consume decomposing plants and animals).
They are preyed upon by pufferfish, triton shells and even sea anenomies.
