This rush-like perennial often occurs in similar habitat to the GRASSTREE (Xanthorrhoea).
The dull green, strap-like leaves, unusual flowers and attractive fruit capsules make this an interesting garden specimen for light, sandy soils.
An ideal choice for rock-gardens or for clump planting at the base of trees.
You will find Mat rush in numerous places between Cairns and Cape Tribulation. Two easy spots to find them are in the carpark at the southern side of the Daintree Ferry and around the carpark at the Alexandra Range lookout.
