A truly beautiful, bushy shrub, found in the swamplands of north-eastern Queensland.

New foliage is pink and densely covered with silky hairs, giving a beautiful appearance. The immature inflorescence is clothed in bracts and so resembles an ear of wheat. Flower spikes develop to a length of about 10cm, are rich purplish red, and are dusted with golden-yellow anthers.
Main flowering occurs in July with a secondary flowering in late spring or early summer. Seed and cuttings are both successful methods of propagation.
