Related to the more well known stinkhorn, Bridal veil (Phallus indusiatus), the fruiting bodies of these fungi put on a spectacular display.
It has the same netted veil (indusium) as the Bridal veil mushroom, but has a yellow, to orange colour to both the cap, stipe and indusium.
Most of the time (as with most fungi) it lives underground, only the fruiting body shows above ground, which emerges from an underground egg shaped peridium.
As with all stinkhorns, the Yellow bridal veil produces a foul smelling slime, which attracts insects, helping disperse spores.
