Found along the east coast of Queensland, this varient of the Hemeted friarbird has a large knob on its bill as well as a bare grey facial skin and a red eye.
It feeds on nectar and fruit, and inhabits rainforest, monsoon forests, eucalypt woodlands and mangroves.
It is nomadic and will follow season flowering patterns. It is often quite aggressive to other birds when feeding.
