The longest of the frogmouths, the Papuan Frogmouth grows to around 53cm.

It is a nocturnal bird and feeds on large insects. It is also reported that the Papuan Frogmouth will site with its mouth open and flies are attracted to a scent secreted inside the mouth. Soundls like a lazy way to catch dinner.

It is similar in appearance to the Tawny Frogmouth, howver it is slightly larger and has red eyes. In Australia, it is restricted in distribution to north Queensland.
