Attractive, dark-green foliage with new shoots being a distinctive pink; spectacular magenta flowers which resemble pom-poms, followed by fast maturing, shining-white, succulent fruits.

It occurs as an understory shrub from sea-level to well up in the ranges. It is a loose growing open shrub requiring a semi-shaded situation and ample moisture. It will attain a height of 5 metres under good conditions.
