Aptly named, Rainbow lorikeet's plumage covers every colour in the rainbow, with a red bill, blue head orange and yellow chest and the deep green of its wings tail and back.

They feed on fruit, pollen and nectar and will noisily congregate when one of their favourite plants is in flower.

Around the Daintree region, they will often be seen in numbers around Umbrella Tree flowers, drinking the copious amounts of nectar produced.
